After the incredible success of our first retreat, we’re back and ready to make even more memories at the Metropole for our second Board Game Retreat, so clear your calendars, pack up your favourite games, and we’ll see you on the weekend of March 6th-8th 2026!
We are Silly Goose Board Game Club, a fun-loving pop-up board game club from the South West. From local pubs to exciting venues, we bring people together through the magic of gaming, and we can’t wait to do it all again! After the first retreat, the connections and memories made were nothing short of amazing, and it’s been beautiful to see everyone still staying in touch and continuing the table-top fun!
This is your chance to be part of something special. Take a leap, join us, and let’s make the second retreat even better than the first!
Our games collection has something for everyone, and we’re always on hand to help teach and explain our games. We’re passionate about bringing together groups of people to enjoy board gaming and connect over this wonderful hobby.
This board game retreat allows guests to immerse themselves in all things board games and meet new gamers, within a historic Victorian hotel in Mid-Wales.
During your two night stay you can enjoy three Silly Goose led games sessions; an opportunity to try new games from an extensive game library with two Geese Game Gurus on hand to teach you the rules.
Additionally, a number of Blood on the Clocktower games will be run over the weekend, in an especially fitting setting.

How do the led games sessions work?
During our games sessions, head to the games tables to view our selection of board games. A Goose Games Guru will be on hand to help make any recommendations should you need any. Once you’ve picked a game, return to your table to play! We will be available to help explain any rules – just give us a wave!
What is Blood on the Clocktower?
Blood on the Clocktower is a murder mystery social deduction game in which players must use logic and lies, deduction and deception to bring their team to victory. Think the Traitors, but more exciting! We will be aiming to have a maximum capacity of around 13 players per session, and will be running multiple games throughout the weekend.
Can I bring my own games?
Yes! Whilst our games library covers a wide range of titles, and will continue to grow before the March retreat, guests are welcome to bring their own games to play with others.
Is it family friendly?
Unfortunately, not this time – this retreat is limited to over 18s only.
